Gambling for a cause
Flower Mound residents will soon have the opportunity to gamble for a good cause.The Lewisville area Chamber of Commerce will host its Casino Night event from 7:30 p.m. to midnight on July 27 at Sneaky Pete’s Restaurant and Banquet, 2 Eagle Point Road. Play online poker.
The event, which is now in its third year, is put on by the Women’s division of the Lewisville area Chamber of Commerce.
Residents ages 21 and up will be able to enjoy a variety of games including roulette, poker, craps and Texas hold ‘em Poker Tournament. People will be gambling for prizes that have been donated by Chamber members and community businesses.
“The main thing was to help fund scholarships and the women of the chamber came together and created a women’s division to promote awareness about women owned businesses and events,” said Phillip Sharp, director of operations for the Lewisville area chamber of commerce. Women poker players.
“A portion of the proceeds will help fund two scholarships for education. One is for a graduating senior for a Lewisville high school student who at least has a B average and is involved in either leadership on campus or a volunteer in the community. This scholarship is funded by the Lewisville Chamber Women’s Division,” Sharp said. “The other scholarship is the Lewisville area Chamber of Commerce Dale Jackson Career Center Scholarship. This is for a graduating senior at the Dale Jackson Career Center. We will also award partial scholarships to a participant of the 2007-2008 class of Leadership Lewisville” Play route 66 poker.
In the past, the event has been very successful.
“It’s been extremely successful. Last year we had it at Celebrations in Highland Village and this year we are having it at Sneaky Pete’s on Lake Lewisville,” Sharp said. “We currently have 140 reservations and we hope to have upwards of 200 attend the event that evening.”
The event will be sponsored by Sam Pack’s Ford Country of Lewisville and United Community Bank of Highland Village. Download poker wallpapers.
“At the end of the evening we are hoping to have 25 prize packages that will be given to the big winners who have the highest amount of chips,” Sharp said. “Some of the prizes are a flag flown over the state capitol, a trip to New Mexico, Texas Ranger tickets and hotel and restaurant giveaways.”
Participants must but tickets to the event. Individual tickets are $55 and those that want to purchase two tickets will pay $80.
