Event 8 of FTOPS V belongs to Kiajessie

Another day another FTOPS Champion. For a time it appeared that Team Full Tilt's own Chris "Jesus" Ferguson was a virtual lock to win the tournament but in the end it was Kiajessie who took home first place.

Ferguson was fighting for the chip lead all day long and came very close to securing a spot at the final two tables but as fate would have it he was forced to push all-in with a nominal hand and busted out 20th. Host Stuart Paterson did not make it into the cash. Download poker wallpapers.

Kiajessie entered the final table as the chip leader with $700,160 in chips. At the opposite end was bayne_s who had $7,279, which wasn't enough for the big blind. Suffice to say bayne_s was the first to go and finished ninth.

cashnotax was the next to go when his King-high straight fell to Ditka89's Ace-high straight. Ditka89 raked $350,000 in the hand and overtook Kiajessie as the chip leader. It was not to last, however. Ditka89 missed some massive draws and all of a sudden found himself the short stack. The next thing you knew Ditka89 got scooped on one hand and was busted from the tournament seventh. Easy come easy go. Women poker.

Play continued rolling along with Gunslinger3 busted by Kiajessie in sixth and SDLARRY was taken down by AD-Stars22 in fifth.

AD-Stars22 was on a hot streak as he rolled out the wheel to bust Adar out in fifth. Unfortunately his luck ran out after than hand. AD-Stars22 busted third when his pocket aces fell to Kiajessie's two-pair.

It was on to heads-up play with Kiajessie versus muckmehard for the title of FTOPS champion. muckmehard carried the chip lead with two million compared to Kiajessie's one million. Kiajessie was quickly in bad shape, down to just $200,000 after losing a few big hands. For a moment it looked like victory was assured for muckmehard but Kiajessie started clawing his way back into the game. Play route 66 poker.

Kiajessie won his first all-in attempt and suddenly was back up to $500,000. After that Kiajessie filled up a couple boats and was dead even with muckmehard.

It must have been a wake up call for muckmehard. It turned into a war of atrophy with each player patiently biding their time and waiting for the opportunity to strike. Finally Kiajessie grinded muckmehard down to $700,000. Play $500 match poker bonus.

The final hand played out in epic manner. muckmehard pushed all-in with pocket rockets on a board that contained three sixes but Kiajessie flipped over the final six for quad sixes to win the hand and the poker tournament. Kiajessie took home $48,285 and a gold jersey avatar for his Full Tilt account.

Next up for FTOPS V is Event 9, $300 + $22 No-Limit Hold 'em 6-Max w/rebuys hosted by John D'Agostino. 20KJAY currently sits atop the FTOPS V leaderboards with 260 points.

The final table results for Event 8 are as follows:

1. Kiajessie $48,285

2. muckmehard $31,117

3. AD-Stars22 $23,069

4. Adar $17,704

5. SDLARRY $13,412

6. Gunslinger3 $9,657

7. Ditka89 $6,438

8. cashnotax $4,828

9. bayne_s $3,433

PokerListings.com and Pacific Poker Roll Out Wave of Freerolls, Clear Sailing to London Epics

As the poker world prepares to congregate in London for two epic poker events, PokerListings.com players can be assured of two things: seats front and center at both, and a pocketful of cash to go with them. Now on the table at Pacific Poker for PokerListings players only: A $25,000 freeroll for a massive WSOP Europe prize package, monthly $5,000 cash freerolls and a private shot at the upcoming U.K. Open.

This fall, all poker roads are leading to London, England for two of the most prestigious events in Europe - the inaugural World Series of Poker Europe* and the 888.com U.K. Open.

PokerListings.com, the world's largest online poker guide, and 888.com flagship Pacific Poker, are ensuring their players are in the diamond lane all the way there, with two massive prize packages for the events up for grabs and a wave of cash freerolls along with them.
First up: A $25,000 World Series of Poker Europe* freeroll, open to all PokerListings players that earn just 50 comp points at Pacific Poker between June 1st and August 20, 2007.

The freeroll goes August 25, with the winner awarded a huge $22,000 prize package for the history-making WSOPE* Main Event starting Sept. 10. An extra $3,000 in cash will also be spread from position two down to a deep prize pool. Download poker wallpapers.

Shortly thereafter: A private $8,500 U.K. Open freeroll comes along for all PokerListings players who earn just 30 comp points by August 30, 2007.

That freeroll goes Sept. 7, with the winner taking a seat and travel expenses for the renowned 888.com U.K. Open in October. Play online poker.

"We know the WSOP Europe* is going to be epic," says Camilla Sundell, press secretary for PokerListings.com. "That's a given. With a relatively small field, a $20,000 buy-in and probably the most star-packed lineup poker has ever seen, that bracelet is going to be one of the most esteemed and sought-after accessories ever."

"So we're excited one of our players can be a part of that, absolutely," Sundell adds. "But don't sleep on the U.K. Open. It's a killer poker tournament in its own right, with a very, very solid line-up of European pros… and I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the heavy hitters from the WSOP stick around for the action too."

Also now on the table at Pacific Poker: Exclusive $5,000 monthly cash freerolls, open to all PokerListings players, new and existing, who collect 20 comp points in any given month.

Earning those points automatically qualifies you for the following month's freeroll, with the next scheduled one set to go September 16, 2007. There's no limit on how many you can play either - just keep collecting 20 points each month.

And, as always, for players & women poker players who aren't yet members at Pacific Poker, signing-up through a PL link guarantees the biggest sign-up bonus in the industry - up to $150 at 50% match.

"This is definitely another win/win situation for our players," Sundell says. "Two wicked prize packages for two fantastic events, and even more free cash at one of the loosest and juiciest poker rooms going.

"The more our players can take advantage of it, the better." Stay tuned to our poker blog for latest updates.

Season Four of the European Poker Tour Set To Kick Off with the EPT Barcelona Open

Season four of the European Poker Tour is set to kick off in late August with the EPT Barcelona Open, which will run from August 28th until September 1st 2007. The tournament will be taking place at the Casino Barcelona.

The buyin for the poker tournament will be 8000 pounds, and there will be a 600 person cap on the event. Considering the fact that Pokerstars is holding satellites for this event and also offering buy-in services for the event if you don't win via satellite, you should probably buy your seat now or risk having the event become sold-out, as I am sure it will be. Download poker wallpapers.

Because Pokerstars offers satellites and direct buy-ins for all of the EPT events, you can expect a great mix of well-known online poker players and live poker pros at the event. I am assuming that Daniel Negreanu, Greg Raymer and Joe Hachem will all be representing Pokerstars at the tournament, as will be Elky and Hevad "Rainkhan" Khan, who are also members of Team Pokerstars.

Then you will have your stellar crop of European professionals, a sprinkling of live poker pros from North America, and some of the best young talent in the game including the likes of Adam Junglen and possibly "actionjeff" Jeff Garza. Play $500 match poker bonus.

It should be a very exciting event, and it is always a treat to watch the dynamic between the older and younger players & women poker players. Because you are only required to be 18 years of age to play this event, some of the younger phenoms such as Gobboboy and Actionjeff will be able to play this event.

Online Poker: Wexler's Support Continues Growing

When it comes to online poker legislation that looks to make the game legal and regulated, Florida Congressman Robert Wexler's Skill Game Protection Act is right up there with Barney Frank's legislation and it's approved by the Poker Player Alliance's outspoken chairman, Alfonse D'Amato.

Online-Casinos.com reports that Since Mississippi Democrat Bennie Thompson signed up as Wexler's first co-sponsor in June, 11 more Representatives have put their weight behind the Wexler proposal, which now lists the following: Download poker wallpapers.

Heartland Poker Tour Continues to Grow

Tour's Popularity Spurs New Events and Larger Prize Pools

The Heartland Poker Tour will kick off one of its largest events this weekend when the $2,500 main event gets underway at the Majestic Star Casino in Gary, Indiana on Saturday, July 28. According to HPT co-founder, Todd Anderson, approximately 300 players & women poker players should enter the event to create a prize pool over $700,000. The first-place prize should be around $200,000.

“Every time we go somewhere new, we pick up more people,” said Anderson of the growing tournament fields. The HPT has taken a number of steps to ensure that the poker player who also has a 9-to-5 day job can play in their events. The main event of each poker tournament stop takes place primarily on the weekends. The HPT has also implemented something unique, a “Ride/Room Share” tab on their website, so players from the same region or hometown can travel together to events to cut down on costs. The HPT features multiple days of $400+50 satellites to build up tournament fields and give everyone a chance to become a television poker star.

“The 10k buy-in is really out of range for 99 percent of the population,” said Anderson. “It’s more affordable, it’s more realistic. Our events are a lot of fun, they’re not as serious.” The HPT creates an easy-going sense of community, due to smaller buy-ins and less pressure, and that atmosphere has created a cult-like following in many regional poker circles. “I liken it to a fishing trip with your buddies…it’s a different experience,” said Anderson. Play $500 match poker bonus.

Anderson founded the HPT with Greg Lang in 2005 and has watched the tournament circuit grow to 16 events in 2007. The tour began in the Midwest, but as more people show interest, the tour adds new stops throughout the country. This includes a new event in Tucson, Arizona for fall 2007. Download poker wallpapers. The 2007 tour also saw the first East Coast stop on the tour in Verona, New York at Turning Stone Casino. The HPT has their eyes fixed on Tunica, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Denver, Colorado as potential expansion stops on the tour. “It’s kind of a function of when we get on television,” said Anderson about the expansion of the tour. The television interest has increased, and the tour has grown as a result. A number of new events have been added this fall to the schedule. “We booked a lot of new events for the fall…so there’s lots of chances to play,” said Anderson. Stay tuned to our poker blog for latest updates.
