Poker Betting Limit: How to Pick One 4 U

Before you head for the nearest empty chair at an open poker table, hold on. There is one very important factor that you must check and verify before you start playing.

What? Check the betting limit of that particular table.
Why? This is what determines the professional skills of the poker players & women poker pros you will face and will also help you calculate approximately how much cash you need for this particular round of betting.

For the Casual Poker Fan:
You should try and begin by selecting a table with a low limit. Here, you will enjoy the relatively casual ambience and friendly opponents, who will not have a lot of experience playing and thus you stand a fair chance of winning. The slight problem with such games is that such kinds of tables are difficult to locate. In addition, those playing at such tables tend to play in a very conservative manner and this slows down the flow of the game. If you are still interested in looking for such tables you will be able to find them at the downtown casinos and gambling halls or at poker rooms not located on the Las Vegas strip itself such as the Palace Station. Download poker wallpapers.

Wish to Play Texas Holdem Instead?
Here too, select the lower limit games such as the 4/8 version. In this game, you will be allowed to increase only by four dollars and hence the name. Then, when you come to the last two betting rounds, you will have to double it to eight dollars. Likewise, you can also find the following limits: two and then four, three and then six, four and then eight, eight and then sixteen, fifteen and then thirty, thirty and then sixty and the last one which is pretty different to find (and which unless you are prepared to dish out large sums, you should avoid.) forty and then eight during the last two rounds of betting. Play $500 match poker bonus.

How Many Chips Should You Purchase In Such Games?
What you can do is multiply the end limit by about twenty and then make sure you have that amount. For example, if you wanted to join a table where the limit is two and then four. Multiply four into twenty and you get eighty. So, this is the sum of chips you must bring in to the game by buying them from the cash counters in the casino.

Another option is playing Texas holdem with no limits whatsoever, but beware. Such games pull pros and then you will find yourself at a big disadvantage.

For the Experienced Poker Player:
Most pros prefer playing Texas holdem than other poker games. And such professionals opt for games with no limit or that have a high limit of at least fifteen dollars. Beware, these tables (You can find them in the top casinos such as the Bellagio and others on the strip.) are places where you can lose hundreds of dollars in minutes so unless you are aware of this or unless you want to swim with the sharks because you consider yourself a shark too, stay away. Play route 66 poker.

Conclusion:
Note that sometimes the tables might be occupied and it might take you a while to get a seat. Remember that this is not an play online poker casino where tables are always open. Have patience and wait and do not leave and just join a higher or lower limit table than the one you have decided on. Remember that the outcome of your casino experience depends on this decision.

InfoQ Interview: Experiences with Planning Poker

In this fourteen-minute InfoQ interview, Nils Haugen described the "Planning Poker" technique his teams have been experimenting with. It is a simple mechanism for arriving at estimates collaboratively, with additional team building benefits. It is also likely to improve team estimates over time. Nils Haugen is an agile developer and coach with Objectnet in Norway and has also worked with XP/Agile teams at ThoughtWorks. Online poker.

The term "Planning Poker" was coined by James Grenning in a white paper in 2002, but the technique has also been used other places, and is described in Mike Cohn’s books on User Stories and Agile Estimating and Planning. It doesn't use regular playing cards, but rather each developer has an identical deck of half a dozen index cards numbered with increasing numbers of story points - this could be a simple sequence (1,2,3,4,5,6) or a Fibonnaci sequence (0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8). What's most important is not the cards themselves but way the team uses them. Women poker players.

One notable benefit of using this technique is that it levels the playing field for both dominant and shy members, experts and novices. With this technique, each one must be prepared to share the thinking behind each estimate - potentially injecting new ideas or identifying risks that might have been missed. Download poker wallpapers.

Despite our best efforts, it's not always possible for everyone to be in the room. A group of Agile trainers have provided a free, browser-based tool to help travelling team members or even distributed teams use Planning Poker, at www.planningpoker.com. stay tuned to our poker blog for more updates.

'Ocean's 11' gang foiled in bid to cash in on poker tournament

It was a plot straight out of the Hollywood. A daring gang of gamblers attempted a sophisticated, high-stakes heist on a casino frequented by the stars.

But this time the plotters were caught: police in New Jersey have just released details of how they smashed a plot to rip off gamblers playing in a £1m poker tournament.

A four-man gang was caught in a nearby resort hotel room crammed with hi-tech surveillance equipment to watch the players' cards. Detectives believe they were then passing on the information to an accomplice at the same table. Play route 66 poker.

The extraordinary operation could have come straight from the classic film Ocean's 11

Now the FBI has been brought in to investigate whether the gang has used the audacious scheme before. One of the men arrested is said to be an expert on casino crime who has advised many top gambling companies in Las Vegas. Play $500 match poker bonus.

This incident happened at the exclusive Borgata casino and resort in Atlantic City. A spokesman for Boyd Gaming, a partner in the casino said: 'The scheme did target high-end poker players & women poker pros, but off the floor. The security systems of the Borgata were never compromised, nor was the tournament. Customers were targeted, but not the games.'

The tournament was a £2,500 a player entry event; 337 people were trying to win the £1m pot.

Gaming control authorities in Nevada have been made aware of the arrests and are on guard for any similiar scams in Las Vegas, where most of the biggest poker tournaments are held. Online poker.

Last week, the 38th Annual World Series of Poker final was won by Jerry Yang, 39, a psychologist who beat a field of 6,358 competitors to pocket £4.25m. The WSoP chief, Jeffrey Pollack, said: 'I can't reveal our security measures, otherwise they wouldn't be very secure.

'We have a state-of-the-art surveillance system in place at all times here.'

Cruise leads to WSOP seat for Day 2B player

When Monty Berger boarded the Carnival Legend for a cruise in April, he had one goal in mind - he wanted to win a World Series of Poker Main Event seat.

The cruise line was offering the seat through a satellite tournament on its new PokerPro tables, and Berger had booked the cruise specifically to play in the event. He wasn't the only one either, as more than 50 other players & women poker pros posted the $150 buy-in to play.

But it was Berger who triumphed, taking home the $10,000 buy-in for the WSOP Main Event and an extra $1,000 for travel and accommodations.

The retired cop and 9/11 respondent from Brooklyn is now putting those same poker skills to the test at the World Series and he's managed to wade through his Day 1 to play in Day 2B.

He takes to the felt again today a little short in chips with $19,300, but not the shortest stack at his table. Play online poker.

Casey Koch, from Lincoln, Neb., has that honor with $12,900, followed by Kevin Pionkowski, from San Diego, Calif., with $13,800. The other players at the table are sitting more in the average range with $42,000 or more.

On the plus side, there aren't any intimidating big name players at his starting table for the day. That may change, though, as the cards are shuffled up and dealt for Day 2B. If he lasts long enough, who knows where he may end up or who he'll be playing against. Play $500 match poker bonus.
